Director of Project Based and Service-Learning Curriculum

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Researches, designs and implements a PBL and service-learning program that adheres to the school’s mission of cultivating students’ curiosity, purpose, and diligence.
Project Based Focus:
Researches, designs and implements a PBL program using the seven Project Based Teaching Practices:
- Outline and Plan: Create, adapt, and plan projects from launch to culmination
- Build the Culture: Student choice in designing projects that promote critical thinking, hypothesizing, reasoning, collaboration, creativity, reflective learning, cross-disciplinary thinking, and exploration of real-world problems and challenges
- Manage Activities: Organize tasks, manage schedules, set checkpoints, seek resources, and use reflection to modify or change project direction and outcomes; provide additional learning opportunities for students through multiple modalities
- Scaffold Student Learning: Use differentiated instructional strategies to support student growth and success
- Assess Student Learning: Utilize pre-, formative, and summative assessments; teach reflection by implementing peer- and self-assessment
- Align to Standards: Implement and use standards to guide projects and address understanding of subject areas
- Engage and Coach: Identify when students need redirection, encouragement, and skill-building, and implement plans for improvement
- Contacts guest speakers, organizations, and experts to inspire students during the PBL process and deepen students’ understanding of the content material
- Builds networks with students, families, and the community to ensure communication about innovative teaching practices
- Collaborates with multigrade teachers to create a learning environment that meets the school’s objective and adheres to the mission.
- Models effective and differentiated PBL instruction for teachers
- Assists teachers in aligning their instruction with effective teaching methods and standards
- Provides meaningful feedback and coaching for teachers
- Creates and delivers ongoing PBL professional development for teachers and school leaders
Service Learning Focus:
- Develops strategic plans for service learning; builds and maintains partnerships with the community, non-profit organizations, and public agencies.
- Coordinates interviews and strategy meetings with service-learning partners
- Educates students, faculty, parents, and the community about service-learning partnerships
- Assists faculty and students in selecting projects in relation to course objectives, personal interests, and the school’s core values.
Multigrade Teacher: Kindergarten
Teacher Job Responsibilities:
- Plans, develops, and implements integrated and interdisciplinary instruction with a focus on project-based and service learning
- Collaborates with the Director of Project Based and Service-Learning Curriculum to create a learning environment that meets the school’s objective and adheres to the mission
- Designs and facilitates differentiated and personalized learning goals in a multiage setting
- Maintains a growth mindset toward student learning, teaching practice, and personal/collective professional development; uses data to drive instruction and decision-making
- Demonstrates global competence by looking beyond the classroom; ensures that students’ work is relevant and impactful to students, families, and local and global communities
- Cultivates students’ curiosity, purpose, and diligence by investing in their social, emotional, physical, and spiritual well-being
- Demonstrates academic competence in Literacy, Math, Science, Social Studies, and STEM
- Facilitates problem-solving through curiosity and critical-thinking; promotes student inquiry and rich dialogue
- Collaborates effectively with a variety of stakeholder groups within the organization and with external partners to advance teaching and student learning
- Embraces and fosters opportunities for outdoor learning
- Communicates openly and consistently with parents and school administrators regarding student learning outcomes, challenges, successes, and goals
Multigrade Teacher: Grades 1 and 2
Teacher Job Responsibilities:
